The Scoop
The "Parents are Out of Town" Pantry Raid!
We all remember that first taste of absolute freedom when our parents left us home alone, the kind of freedom that immediately devolved into eating processed snacks on the couch while binge-watching movies until 3 AM.
These Layered Heaven Bars are the culinary embodiment of that exact energy. They are essentially a chaotic, beautiful pantry-clean-out disguised as a gourmet dessert. By layering three types of chips, crunchy pecans, and sweet condensed milk, you create a bar so intensely rich it feels like a loophole in the system.
It’s the ultimate nostalgia trip, minus the parental lecture about using every single baking dish in the house.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2 1/2 cups graham crackers, coarsely broken
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 1/3 cups unsweetened coconut, shredded
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving a 2-inch overhang on the sides.
- In a small, microwave-safe bowl, add the butter and heat in the microwave until it has melted.
- Let the melted butter cool to room temperature.
- In a food processor, add the graham crackers and pulse until they are fine crumbs.
- In a large bowl, add the graham cracker crumbs, the salt, and the melted butter and stir to combine.
- Press the graham cracker mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Layer the milk chocolate chips, the butterscotch chips, the white chocolate chips, and the chopped pecans on top of the graham cracker crust.
- Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the pecan layer and sprinkle with the coconut, gently pressing it down.
- Bake the bars until the edges are golden-brown and the sweetened condensed milk is bubbling at the edges, about 23-28 minutes.
- Transfer the baking dish to a wire rack and let the bars cool completely, about 1-2 hours.
- Use the overhanging parchment paper to transfer the bars out of the baking dish and cut them into squares.
- Serve.
