The Scoop

What could possibly go wrong with meatballs, pasta, and mozzarella?
Some Italian recipes are made to impress. Others are made to comfort.
This one magically manages to do both!
What could possibly go wrong with meatballs, pasta, and mozzarella? No special cooking skills required; this recipe will send you straight to Italy as it comes together in one pan only, to deliver big flavor and feed a crowd.
Hack it:
Use any type of short pasta, like penne, if you can’t get your hands on ziti.
Or a can of tomato sauce with basil instead of marinara sauce.
Use burrata if you are tired of mozzarella; just break a few pieces on top of the dish and bake.
Leftovers:
Reheat any leftovers with a splash of water to replenish any lost moisture and bake for about 15 minutes.
Or make deep-fried pasta bites by cutting cold, firm leftovers into small squares, dipping them into egg first, then flour, egg again, and then panko breadcrumbs. Fry in hot oil, and you’ve got yourself the perfect crispy pasta snack for movie night.
Utilize any leftovers in a tomato soup. Just chop them up and add them to the soup to warm up a few minutes before serving.
