Ingredients
For the filling:
- 2 (21-ounce) cans apple pie filling
- 2 tablespoons butter
For the crisp topping:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup butter cold and cubed
- 1 large egg lightly beaten
- vanilla ice cream to taste, for serving
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- Grease a 11x7-inch baking dish.
- Place the pie filling into the prepared baking dish.
- Dot the pie filling with 2 tablespoons of the butter.
- In a large bowl, add the flour, the sugar, the baking powder, and the nutmeg and mix to combine.
- Cut the remaining cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the egg to the flour mixture and mix just until moistened.
- Sprinkle the crisp topping over the pie filling.
- Bake the apple crisp, uncovered, until the topping is golden-brown and the filling is bubbly, about 40-45 minutes.
- Serve the apple crisp warm with the ice cream.
