Recipe Background

Berry Smoothie Bowl: A colorful, refreshing start for a solo morning retreat.
Celebrating my first solo weekend retreat ever, I had this vision of starting each morning with something vibrant and fresh. It was a tiny cabin hidden in the woods, all mine for the weekend. The fridge was packed with almond milk and bags of frozen berries. I was eager to blend a brilliant smoothie bowl that could match the colorful dawns breaking each day. The variety of berries, from tart raspberries to sweet strawberries, promised a burst of flavor. Tossing in a fresh banana added just the right amount of natural creaminess.
On the first chilly morning, I found myself reaching for the blender as the sun peeked inquisitively through the curtains. Somehow, the gentle hum of the blender offered a sort of meditation, guiding my thoughts toward simplicity and bliss. Sprinkling granola over the top added a crunch that paired beautifully with the shredded coconut and fresh fruits I’d gather. I learned to let the mixture rest a minute to thicken, perfect for a gorgeous spoonful.
It turned out, this colorful bowl emerged not just as a dish but as a metaphor for that weekend—a blend of new experiences and uncharted introspection. That smoothie bowl became my solitude in a bowl and I soon realized, much like adding chopped mango surprised me with bursts of juicy sweetness, life is best enjoyed when you embrace those unexpected gems.
