Ingredients

For the fries:

  • 1 (32-ounce) bag frozen french fries

For the cheese sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

Toppings:

  • 1/2 pound bacon cooked, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 4 green onions chopped

Directions

  • Bake the french fries according to the package directions.
  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter.
  • Whisk the flour into the butter and cook, while whisking, until the raw flour smell disappears, about 1 minute.
  • Slowly add the milk to the flour mixture and cook, while stirring, until the mixture thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.
  • Transfer the sauce from the heat and stir the cheese in until completely melted and thoroughly combined.
  • Season the sauce with the salt and the pepper.
  • Immediately drizzle the baked fries with the cheese sauce.
  • Sprinkle the fries with the bacon and drizzle with the sour cream.
  • Sprinkle the fries with the green onions.
  • Serve.
