Ingredients
For the fries:
- 1 (32-ounce) bag frozen french fries
For the cheese sauce:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
Toppings:
- 1/2 pound bacon cooked, crumbled
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 4 green onions chopped
Directions
- Bake the french fries according to the package directions.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter.
- Whisk the flour into the butter and cook, while whisking, until the raw flour smell disappears, about 1 minute.
- Slowly add the milk to the flour mixture and cook, while stirring, until the mixture thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.
- Transfer the sauce from the heat and stir the cheese in until completely melted and thoroughly combined.
- Season the sauce with the salt and the pepper.
- Immediately drizzle the baked fries with the cheese sauce.
- Sprinkle the fries with the bacon and drizzle with the sour cream.
- Sprinkle the fries with the green onions.
- Serve.
